The Old Prison at Northleach

In these austere times Cotswold District Council have decided to sell the Old Prison at Northleach. The building is a grade 2 listed building of enormous importance which also houses the Olive Lloyd-Baker collection of agricultural equipment and the visitor attraction “Escape to the Cotswolds”

The Friends of the Cotswolds in association with the local residents of Northleach and the Cotswold Conservation Board are spearheading a campaign to purchase the building and raise £750000 for its restoration and ongoing maintenance.

You can help by petitioning your local councillor or write to Cotswold District Council to support the Friends bid and by making a donation or pledge to the campaign. The campaign is being supported by The Wilts & Gloucester Echo and Cirencester based St James Place plus numerous other local businesses and individuals.

Please hurry we have not got long, the property is on the market and numerous bids have been received by the council. Local residents spear headed by Diana Ray have already raised a petition with over 1200 signatures which has delayed a decision until after a full council debate on 28 February but a final decision is expected shortly after that.
