Fulbrook Verges
The village of Fulbrook, just outside Burford, may be small, but, if recent projects are anything to go by, it is blessed with a very active community among other things. The village is located within the Wychwood Forest area and is a keen supporter of efforts to revive and restore the once royal hunting forests of Henry VIII. Earlier in the year, villagers, with the support of Cotswold Wardens and Wychwood v volunteers, completed various local landscape and wildlife enhancement schemes including the replanting of hedgerows and hedgerow trees in the Parish.
But not content with their efforts, the parish council, in realising its own bio-divesity plan, decided to replant grass verges on the busy A361 which straddles the village and which links Burford with Chipping Norton.
The Friends of the Cotswolds were delighted to have been able to assist those involved with a grant of £500 to purchase a number and great variety of plugs of native grassland flower species which will not only provide a beautiful and colourful spectacle for those driving through the village, but will support and encourage bio-diversity in the area also.
Best wishes to all concerned, but do take the time to visit Fulbrook and see for yourself. You’ll be both impressed and, hopefully, inspired!
